Let us Grow: Tacoma has great rich soil that is ideal for growing most anything. I have especially enjoyed growing crops that do not do well in warmer climates. The cool moist soil is ideal for some of my favorite crops such as Brussels sprouts, Lettuce, Snow Peas, Potatoes, carrots, Artichokes, Bush Beans, and Pumpkins. It gives me great joy to grow food for my family that I know is healthy and does not contain pesticides or preservatives. I grow my crops using all natural pest control methods, and am a believer in companion planting, which helps control unwanted pest! I started this blog to share with my ambitious gardening friends, what I have learned over the last 12 years gardening in Washington State. I have had many failures in the learning process, and that is why I do a diagram of my vegetable garden and list dates of when I planted, harvested, and any other information I feel will help me the next year. This year I will start logging soil temperature…..can’t believe I am just thinking about that one! I have realized that spring can come in April or as late as the end of May, so soil temperature will help me plan planting dates. Lettuce Grow together! Ruby
